AW Direct HD Front Tow Optimum Kit

A step up from the Standard HD front tow kit is AW Direct's Optimum front tow kit for heavy-duty trucks. Like the Standard series kit, the Optimum kit includes the Quick Connect air coupler kit to supply air to brake and suspension components as well as the SafeAll Brake Assist to help with braking while going down the road. This tow kit also features a pair of tie-down straps to secure the front axle to the underlift and a cam-style steering wheel lock to prevent the front wheels from shifting while under tow. Lastly, unlike the Standard kit, the Optimum kit includes the Miller short tapered axle fork set with a 2" wide opening to help get under front axles with low-clearance obstructions. These Axle Forks from Zips have a 2" wide opening. This new design features a shorter and tapered front lead fork to more easily get under a front axle eliminating the need for a double pick. It also has a tighter distance between the forks to grab the axle. The extra width reduces side-to-side movement and will fit most heavy steer axles. These forks are sold as a singles or Set of 2.

The SafeAll Steering Wheel Lock w/ Claw Hook secures the steering wheel to the brake pedal to keep front wheels straight during towing. Coated claw hooks prevent damage, while the ratchet strap ensures a tight, reliable hold.

(1) SafeAll Remote Brake Assist - #BB100
Preserve your brakes, improve your stopping distance and maintain safety while towing heavy-duty trucks with the SafeAll Remote Brake Assist, formerly known as the Brake-Buddy. Secured inside the cab of the disabled vehicle, this supplemental brake actuator works in tandem with the tow truck and helps keep you in compliance with federal law. Powder-coated safety orange for easy identification, the brake actuator is connected to the brake pedal and is secured by claws to the steering wheel. A separate steering wheel lock is also required to prevent the steering wheel from turning and dislodging the actuator under tow.

To use, first wrap the strap around the wrecker's underreach and the casualty's front axle, then pass the loose end of the strap through the ratchet and tighten.
