If you are in the towing or transport industry, you are probably aware that
having a clean Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is vital in having your truck
run smoothly. Every 150,000 miles, it is recommended that you have your DPF
inspected and cleaned to ensure:
- Increased Fuel Economy
- Less Time Spent in the Soup
- Enhanced Performance & Horsepower
- Fewer Regenerations
- Lower Maintenance Costs
- Longer DPF Life
Zip's has invested in a State-of-the-Art DPF Cleaning System. In under 24
hours, and for far less than the cost of replacement, we can inspect, and
thoroughly clean your DPF. While other service facilities simply blow air
through the filter, Zip's multi-step cleaning process will remove nearly all
ash, soot, and other residue that prevents your truck from operating at peak
performance.
Our cleaning system utilizes state-of-the-art machinery to revitalize your DPF.
When a customer questions what we have taken out of their filter, we can give
them soot measurements to the gram, using our DPF Soot Scale! We place the
filter on the scale before cleaning and note the weight. After the filter has
been cleaned, we place the filter back on the scale. This allows us to give a
detailed report of what your DPF was holding in its core and what came out of
the filter.
The Flow Meter is designed to inspect and measure the flow before and after
cleaning the DPF and can also distinguish a bad DPF that may be exothermed,
cracked, or damaged. Any imparities in the filter allow containments to flow
through, decreasing the filtration efficiency and allowing harmful diesel
exhaust soot particles to be released.
Our DPF Blast Cabinet uses something called "Dual Force" technology where
compressed air and an intense vacuum power is used simultaneously to push from
the top and pull from the bottom to force the contaminated soot from the cells
of the DPF. The cabinet has a built in pressure differential testing system
that allows us to evaluate the filter before, during and after the cleaning
process is completed. Each filter has a different "flow pattern" on where the
exhaust enters the DPF, these flow patterns cause soot concentration to be
greater in specific areas. Our cleaning system allows us to work on those
specific areas until it is clean. The combined compressed air and intense
vacuum power working in unison, puts our cleaning system ahead of the
competition.
The DPF Regeneration Oven facilitates the cleaning process of dirty filters. A
filter may need to be baked in the oven due to a high amount of wet soot or
unburned hydrocarbons. Baking the filter will regenerate the soot to ash that
cannot otherwise be effectively removed. The machine controller is programmed
to ramp up the temperature at a rate that will not damage the substrate of the
filter. During the regeneration process the advanced technology of the oven
allows us to make sure there is no uncontrolled regeneration to the filter. As
the oven temperature increases, the DPF will start its own regeneration
process.
Zip's professional mechanics have already been using the cleaning system to
revitalize DPF systems across the country. They weigh and inspect each DPF
before it is blasted and then baked. After the filter is baked, it is then
blasted for second time before being re-inspected and weighed to confirm the
DPF has been properly cleaned. Schedule an appointment today to get your filter
in and receive the benefits of this multistep cleaning system.
