The HexChex is designed not to melt under heavy braking situations. However, it will melt if the hub overheats. This lets the driver know right away that there are problems with the hub. If it does melt, the non-stick material is removed easily without damaging your wheels or lug nuts. Not to mention, it is made of highly durable polymer and is chemical resistant.
