Description
We get it. Tow operators get in a hurry when they're under pressure. Law enforcement is often breathing down their neck, and they want to get the road open as soon as possible. Mistakes can happen, and the wrong hydraulic lever can be pulled. If they’re not paying attention, an expensive steel winch line can be accidentally stretched the tieback hook normally is the failure point and compromised, ultimately putting it out of service.

To prevent this unintended damage from happening on a 12-ton wrecker, Zip's has developed a Tie-Back Spring Tube for Vulcan V24 and Century 312 bodies. Similar to the option already available on heavy-duty wreckers, this light-duty bolt-on tube features an internal spring attached to a loop to which the winch hook can connect on the tie-back.

If the winch on the wrecker is mistakenly engaged and the winch line is inadvertently activated before the hook is removed, the spring will provide adequate slack or give to prevent the winch line from stretching or snapping before the winch can be disengaged. The overextended spring should give ample audible warning for the tow operator to stop the winch operation.

Sold in pairs for each winch line, this tie-back tube is bolted to the boom in original tieback location and holes, and the angle can be adjusted in two directions. The steel bracket is powder-coated black for rust resistance and longevity. To order a replacement spring, see Item # ZP-CABLE-TB-R.
